| Wound care physicians diagnose and treat chronic non-healing wounds. Their goal is to heal wounds properly in order to prevent amputation or wound reoccurance. Wound care involves extensive knowledge of the etiology of wounds as well as treatment techniques effective for specific wound types once identified. Hyperbaric therapy is the use of a chamber to deliver pure oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure to aid in wound healing by providing optimum oxygenation to tissues. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is one form of treatment for chronic wounds. |
