To meet the many challenges facing our county and our city, Casa Grande Regional Medical Center (CGRMC) is embarking upon our very first capital fundraising campaign in order to expand and modernize the practice of emergency medicine here in the primary full service hospital serving the general public between Phoenix and Tucson.
CGRMC is a community based not-for-profit organization. This means we don't make a profit; instead, any revenues earned after expenses are reinvested directly back into the hospital to help support needed programs, additional services, equipment replacement and upgrades.
Even with the enormous number of new rooftops in Northwestern Pinal County, Casa Grande and its surrounding communities maintain their small-town feel. Our patients are our neighbors, our children's school friends, and our family.
Casa Grande Regional Medical Center is the county's primary full-service hospital. U.S. Interstate Highways I-10 (a heavily traveled corridor between Tucson and Phoenix) and I-8, linking us to Yuma and San Diego, have brought significant growth to our area. Our county's roots are in agriculture but the increased demand for affordable homes, the favorable climate and prime location have caused explosive growth which is straining existing infrastructure.
In the past, community hospitals like CGRMC were able to finance capital expansion through revenue from operations plus financing. This is no longer possible due to a variety of factors, including:
- Decreased reimbursements for Medicare and Medicaid patients
- Reduction in health insurance reimbursement;
- Skyrocketing medical malpractice premiums
- Care of uninsured patients
- Rapidly escalating operating costs
Thus, for the first time in CGRMC's history, the medical center is embarking on a capital campaign to help finance the ED expansion. Support from the community will be critical. | | Did You Know?
