Basha Art Gallery Generously Hosts
CGRMC Foundation Fundraiser
On September 16, the Zelma Basha Salmeri Gallery of Western American and Native American Art hosted the CGRMC Foundation and its guests. The fundraising event promoted the upcoming CGRMC Emergency Department expansion.
CGRMC CEO J. Marty Dernier briefly addressed attendees on the growing need in the community for expansion of emergency services. Foundation Chairman David Fitzgibbons III also took a few moments to thank guests and emphasize the need to keep pace with the rapidly growing community.
About 80 hospital supporters attended the much-anticipated event and enjoyed not only the famous art but also appetizing entrees. Among the delicacies served to guests were teriyaki salmon, steamed vegetables and a Basha family favorite of meatballs in wine sauce. They were accompanied by one’s choice of wine or refreshment and followed by tantalizing, personal-sized cakes.
The gallery features a vast collection of over 600 pieces of Western and Native American art. These consist of oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, pastel and charcoal drawings, pen and inks, bronze, wood and natural stone sculptures, wood-turned bowls, basketry, pottery, kachinas and jewelry. An impressive collection of antique rifles and pistols are also available for viewing.
The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., however, visitors are encouraged to call before they visit to ensure the gallery is not closed for maintenance or special events.
