CGRMC'S Acute Rehabilitation Receives CARF Accreditation
Casa Grande Regional Medical Center’s (CGRMC) Acute Rehabilitation program has been awarded a Three-Year Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to CGRMC and makes CGRMC the second CARF accredited inpatient rehabilitation program in the State of Arizona.
This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable. CARF accreditation means that patients can be confident that an organization has made a commitment to continually enhance the quality of its services and programs and is focused on the satisfaction of the persons served.
The CARF surveyors Ronald Liston and Carol Ratzlaff noted ten areas of strength in CGRMC’s Acute Rehabilitation program, including staff recruitment and retention. They state, “The rehabilitation unit demonstrates success in its efforts to recruit, orient, train, and retain highly motivated clinical and support staff members. It is especially impressive that, during the nationwide nursing shortage, there is continual interest by nurses to work in this acute rehabilitation unit.” The surveyors also praise the collaboration and communication that takes place in the unit among staff members from different disciplines, including administration, physicians, therapists, and nursing staff.
CGRMC’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit opened on July 1, 2004, and has served over 370 patients since that time. The unit is a comprehensive physical and cognitive inpatient rehabilitation program dedicated exclusively to treating individuals who have experienced a disabling injury or illness.
