Community Groups Brighten Holidays for CGRMC Patients
The holidays are a time to celebrate, enjoy family and participate in the spirit of giving that come with the season. As in years past, community members have once again come forth with an outpouring of generosity and holiday spirit for CGRMC patients. Although illness or injury has imposed difficulty on these patients’ enjoyment of the season, concerned community members have opened their hearts to make for a brighter holiday for many hospitalized patients.
Girl Scout Troop #278
On November 28, Girl Scout Troop #278 donated teddy bears to the hospital for children in the pediatrics and emergency units. Their heartwarming concern for other children who suffered illness or injury and unable to celebrate the holidays the way they normally would was much appreciated by the patients and their families.
Frito-Lay
CGRMC staff and patients received quite a treat on December 2 when the infamous mascot of cheese puffs, Chester Cheetah, and the renown Cracker Jack Sailor made an appearance and toured the hospital visiting patients and chatting with staff. Frito-Lay staff brought with them stuffed animals which they donated to the pediatrics and emergency units.
Palm Creek
The giving spirit passed on to residents from the Palm Creek RV Resort who, on December 9, donated 77 blankets they had personally sewn to babies born during the holiday season.
Rotary Club of Casa Grande
Holiday traditions are about as important to us as the holidays themselves. Caroling is one of those delightful traditions which the Rotary Club of Casa Grande shared with us on the evening of December 19 as they gave ornaments to patients on all units.
NJHS at Cactus Middle School
The National Junior Honor Society at Cactus Middle School organized a toy drive of which the pediatrics unit was one of the recipients.
Department of Public Safety
Each year, DPS officers bring several bags of teddy bears to the pediatrics unit and emergency department to be given to children who are sick throughout the year. This year was no exception and the officers visited with young patients (and their nurses!) in both areas the Thursday before Christmas.
CGRMC thanks all these individuals and others who gave of themselves to brighten the lives of others during the holidays. A very special thanks to all those who donated through the CGRMC Mitten Tree and the Desert Pavilion Adopt-A-Resident Program.
