CGRMC Dog Therapy Receives Safeway Foundation Grant
The Dog Therapy Program at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center (CGRMC) was awarded a $2,500 grant by the Safeway Foundation. This donation will be used toward the purchase of vital materials to support the program and ensure that patients will have a memorable visit with a therapy dog. Funds may also be used to help defray the costs of certification for dogs entering the program in the future.
The Safeway Foundation grants awards through a Contributions Committee comprised solely of Safeway employees who donate to the Foundation through payroll deduction. Kerry Luginbill, Director of Public Affairs for the Safeway Inc Phoenix Division, stated, “We commend Casa Grande Regional Medical Center for the services it provides and applaud your efforts to improve quality of life in our community.”
CGRMC is in the process of launching the Dog Therapy Program. Karen Kerr-Osman, coordinator of the program explains, “We have seen amazing responses from patients, visitors and staff who have visited with our first therapy dog, Makenzi. The grant from the Safeway Foundation will enable the program to provide an extra personal touch to our patients by taking a picture of them with the visiting dog. We also look forward to the program expanding to include additional therapy dogs so that patient visits may be conducted more frequently.”
