Staff Raise $500K for Emergency Expansion
CGRMC celebrated raising $500k in pledges for the Emergency Department expansion on January 25, in the CGRMC dining room with an ice cream social. Foundation Board Chairman David Fitzgibbons, III expressed his appreciation to attendees and picked out the winning tickets for door prizes and the much coveted airline tickets. Glenn Tappan, foundation executive director, briefly congratulated CGRMC staff for their contributions and a successful campaign along with announcing the grand total. Approximately 40 percent of CGRMC staff pledged contributions during the campaign. Although the internal campaign is complete, staff may still make pledges. New hires will also have the opportunity to pledge during new employee orientation. The campaign is set to go public in February where another $2 million is expected in contributions.
Glenn Tappan thanks staff for excellent ED Expansion Campaign:
"As I toured through the hospital when I was first hired as Executive Director for the CGRMC Foundation, I was immediately impressed by the new technology
and array of medical services available here. However, what impressed me the most was the quality of the people who make CGRMC what it is—a first-rate, healthcare facility. I believe that there is nothing that can match human compassion, especially in a time of need. One needs only to walk the halls to find evidence of this compassion at work every day.
Furthermore, it is encouraging to see how staff believe in CGRMC and our mission to provide quality care to our community. We have come to redefine quality care to include gentle, caring hands, an understanding attitude and a compassionate heart. From administration to nursing, maintenance to dietary and radiology to respiratory, CGRMC staff have set a marvelous example of what giving ought to be. Approximately 40 percent of hospital employees have pledged $500,000 for the Emergency Department Expansion. This increases to $1 million when we add in pledges by board members and the CGRMC Auxiliary. In addition, the Gila River Indian Community pledged $1 million bringing our total to an astounding $2 million.
Plans for the public portion of our campaign are underway and we are proud to be able to tell them about the fantastic start we’ve had. Our goal for the public
campaign is $2 million and we are confident we can achieve that goal. The external campaign will take about a year to complete at which point we expect our total pledges to exceed $4 million. Thank you for getting this campaign off to a wonderful start. Your generosity and dedication to this community is exemplary. I especially thank all those volunteers who helped me spread the word, set the example and encouraged others to participate."
—Glenn Tappan, Foundation Executive Director
